Zakumi the leopard has made his official debut as the mascot of the 2010 World Cup -- the first of the premier international football events to be played in Africa.

The cuddly leopard with a green afro leaped through a beaded curtain on Monday. Zakumi was given a biography and a name evoking South Africa's history and hopes.
