At the Olympic village, one of most popular places is the Internet cafe.

Athletes are spending their spare time here, taking a break from the fierce Paralympic competition.

Regardless of their disability, everyone is enjoying their time on-line, including visually-impaired distance runner Ricardo Vale.

This computer system is specially designed for the visually-impaired, allowing athletes to keep in touch with family members and friends back home.

Ricardo Vale is sending e-mails to his family. He says routine and preparation are important for every athlete, and thinks this allows him to do exactly as he would at home in Portugal. Relaxation is important after racing, and particularly after a big event.

Paralympic organizers offered the system to make the athletes feel as comfortable as they would at home. It's a detail which the organizers say deserves special attention.

Shi Quanxin, one volunteer said "Our system can help the visually-impaired to know more information about the Paralympics. We try to do everything we can to give them an equal oppuntinuty with the other people."

The organizers have said they want to hold two games of equal splendor, and attention to detail has been crucial in delivering on that promise.
