"Our measures include holding tourism fairs inland and arranging online promos among other things. Of course what we've done is far from enough. Hami is rich in its pristine natural resources, how can we market these unique features as we introduce the east gate of Xinjiang? We have to sort out the current pristine resources and improve hotel facilities as well as service standards."
It is a pity that the magnificent beauty in Hami is not be appreciated by more people, and that's what concerns the tourism board most. Thanks to government support, tourism in Hami has gone through a tremendous shift.
"In recent years we have engaged in improving hotel standards, scenic spots packaging and our travel services. Back in 1988 we have none star hotel in our city, but now we have built 16 such hotels. We also have built 12 National AA level tourist attractions. Last year we added 2 more AAAA level tourist attractions, one is Hami King Area, the other is Balikun Ancient Town, both of which are symbolic spots featuring distinctive Xinjiang flavors."
With an annual tourist increase of over 20%, Hami's tourism is on the verge of taking off. More than simply its renowned Hami melon, the lofty snow-capped mountains, vast deserts, numerous basins and myriad famous historic sites and a lot more are waiting for visitors to explore.
