It is easy to find a place to live on the island. If you want to view all of the bay, you can choose the Penglai Hotel. Rooms with a sea view cost around 180 yuan (US$26) per day, but the facilities are ordinary and the food is expensive.
Private family hotels are good to live in and cost around 20 yuan per day. These family hotels are near the sea. You can buy food at the nearby market and cook with the hotel owners.
Getting to the island
Shenzhen Airlines flies from Shenzhen to Beihai every day. For those driving it is around 700 kilometers and takes about eight hours from Shenzhen to Beihai.
Ferries leave every morning at 8:30 a.m. from Beihai to Weizhou Island, and return at 3:30 p.m. Tickets cost 120 to 180 yuan per person.
