USA Pavilion to exchange staff with China's Joint Provincial Pavilion

The USA Pavilion and China's Joint Provincial Pavilion launched a cultural exchange program on August 10, where both sides will swap personnel to serve at pavilions for a short period of time. The program commenced this morning at its first stop—the Guangdong Pavilion. Martin Alintuck, President and CEO of the USA Pavilion, and Bai Mingshao, Executive Director of the Guangdong Pavilion, attended the opening ceremony.

The USA Pavilion sent two student ambassadors to the Guangdong Pavilion to serve as guest staff for one day, while the Guangdong Pavilion sent two staff members to work as guides at the USA Pavilion. Aiming to promote cultural discourse between the two nations, the initiative provides opportunities for the American students ambassadors, mostly college students, to experience the local customs and practices of China's various regions and ethnic groups at provincial pavilions, while their Chinese counterparts can also find value cultural diversities of the American people at USA Pavilion.

"The project is a groundbreaking event at the Shanghai Expo, where people with diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds meet and gather together, realizing the philosophies of Shanghai Expo—understanding, communication, togetherness and cooperation," said Martin Alintuck, President and CEO of USA Pavilion. In addition to the Guangdong Pavilion, similar exchange programs with many other provincial and municipal pavilions are also being organized.

"America is the world's biggest economy, while Guangdong is China's largest economic provincial power. Both of the Pavilions' exhibits at the Shanghai Expo have enjoyed immense popularity. The cultural exchange program gives us an opportunity to strengthen our communication and foster our friendship, enabling the young people to experience multiculturalism and share the joy of our Expo family," Bai Mingshao, Executive Director of the Guangdong Pavilion remarked.
