Located in western Sichuan on the eastern parts of Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, Songpan Grasslands, or Zoige Marshes makes up the largest plateau wetland in the world, which has now become a vibrant place in April since spring has returned.

 

Snow thawed. Waterways started to rise. Migrating birds returned, including flocks of black-necked cranes that start to travel back in early March to breed and raise young birds there.

 

At 3,400 meters above sea level and protected by surrounding mountain ranges, the wetlands’ ecosystem has been well preserved to sustain a rich biodiversity and abundant produce.

 

Traditional Tibetan herdsmen’s lifestyles can be experienced there, from diet culture, to architecture, and beyond.
