The Liupan Mountain located in the southern part of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region is an important site during the Long March (1934-1936), a massive military retreat undertaken by the Red Army to evade the pursuit of the Kuomintang army. In October 1935, the Red Army went by the mountain and reunited in Yan’an, Shaanxi Province. The scenic spot now is also an important patriotism education base in Ningxia. [Photo/Xinhua]
