Ningxia's first shipment of calcium metal for export overseas has cleared customs and is ready for transit to Europe, authorities said.

A few days ago, 9.6 tons of calcium metal produced by the China Zhongwei AI Erde Technology Ltd. for export to Austria had been inspected by the Ningxia inspection and Quarantine Bureau. At present, the calcium had been successfully transported from Zhongwei's production facilities in Ningxia to Tianjin en route to the European destination. This marks Ningxia's first export of calcium metal products overseas.

Zhongwei's Ningxia facility produces electrolytic calcium metal, a series of calcium metal alloys and other calcium products. The company's production base has an annual capacity of 5000 tons of electrolytic metal calcium. Calcium aluminum alloy is known as a reducing agent and an additive in the metallurgical industry. It is used for the production of steel and steel alloys. It is an ideal deoxider, decarbonzier and desulfurizer. As the main raw material for the production of magnesium alloy, it also has a wide range of applications in the pharmaceutical industry.

Metal calcium is classified as a dangerous substance, due to its reactive properties with water or acid which can produce hydrogen gas. To this end, the Ningxia inspection and Quarantine Bureau carries out strict inspection procedures. Zhongwei works closely with the Bureau to ensure inspections are carried out in a timely manner so that the materials are delivered on schedule.
