A promotional conference on Nepal's culture, food, and investment opportunities, organized by the Nepalese embassy and China World Peace Foundation, was held in Beijing on Thursday.

In an opening speech, Nepal's ambassador to China Leela Mani Paudyal said he hopes for this to help spread greater awareness about art, culture, cuisines, as well as tourism and business opportunities of Nepal among the general Chinese public.

"The government of Nepal has reviewed several policies, made institutional and procedural reforms in the recent past,"Paudyal said. "Reform has continued to make Nepal an attractive investment destination."

The ambassador said that thousands of Nepali students are studying in China and more than 150,000 Chinese tourists are visiting Nepal every year, which affirms the strong communications between the two countries. He also called on further people-to-people exchanges in the future.

"The presidents of our two countries agreed to expand bilateral cooperation in the fields of people-to-people exchanges, including in tourism and in encouraging more Chinese tourists to visit Nepal,"Paudyal said.

Li Ruohong, president of China World Peace Foundation, also attended the event. He said, "Both Nepal and China are countries with ancient civilizations, and there is big room for complementarity in terms of cultural diversity, investment trade and youth innovation and entrepreneurship."
