2009 Walking around Kunming Lake for International Friends is to be held at 14:00 on Saturday, October 31st at the picturesque Kunming Lake in the Summer Palace. With "I have a home in Beijing" as the subject, the walking event this year focuses on the concept of walking improves health and sport changes life, emphasizing the feature of science and interest. We promote an easy and interesting way of keeping fit. All the participants will walk into the nature and enjoy the harmony of the environment and the people, feeling energized and relaxed. The event is jointly organized by Beijing People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Foreign Affairs Office of Beijing Municipal People's Government, Information Office of Beijing Municipal People's Government, Beijing Municipal Management Center of Parks, Beijing Foreign Investment Association and Beijing NGO Association for International Exchanges, and undertaken by Beijing Friendship Corporate Club and Administration Office of the Summer Palace.

Competition Details about the walk go as follows:
a). The walking will be conducted in accordance with international regularity
b). Distance: 8 kilometers
c). Walking course: Wenchangge Gate Tower—East Bank of Kunming Lake—South Bank of West Lake—Back way of Longevity Hill—-Wenchangge Gate Tower (Route map)
d). Roll call starts at 13:00. The whole event starts at 14:00 and comes to a close at 17:00
e). Start & finish point: Wenchangge Gate Tower on the east side of Kunming Lake

Participation:
a).Participants: Individuals from foreign embassies to China, staff members of foreign agencies, firms and companies, foreign experts and students
b).Qualification: Participants should be healthy and have received training in running race. Patients with such chronic diseases as high blood pressure, cardiovascular or cerebrovascular diseases shall be declined; juveniles who want to participate must be accompanied by their guardians
c).Entry Period: From October 9 till October 27
d).Entry Place: Beijing People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (#97, Nanheyan Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing)
e).Entry Fee: ￥20 per person (including the expenses for admission, competition and sightseeing activities)

Awards:
a). The groups that have participated in this activity for times shall be awarded with souvenirs for its "active participation";
b). All the participants in walking events will receive certificates, T-shirts, towels, number marks and the carrying bags.
c). There will be a Beijing Knowledge quiz board at the finish in Wenchangyuan Compound.
