About 225,000 units of industrial robots were sold worldwide in 2014. This statistic has increased by 27 percent from the previous year, according to the International Federation of Robotics. Founded in 1983, Adept is one of the largest U.S.-based manufacturers of industrial robots. Adept robots are used in high-speed, precision manufacturing, packaging, and factory automation.

More than 25,000 non-captive robots and more than 30,000 Adept controlled robots are installed worldwide, according to the company website. The company’s revenue during the 2015 fiscal year reached roughly US$54.2 million.
