Beijing, capital of China and one of the country's Four Great Ancient Capitals, crowned the 2014 list of the Most Developed Tourism Cities in China again due to its abundant tourism resources and convenient transportation, according to the rankings released by Forbes China recently.

The 2014 list is the third such ranking Forbes has released. The cities on the list feature developed economies, convenient transportation, great dining and entertainment options and well-known attractions.

Forbes China's ranking included the 30 Chinese cities with the highest comprehensive tourism income last year. Rankings were given based on six tourism criteria: the number of inbound tourists, the number of domestic tourists, earnings from tourism-related foreign exchange, domestic tourism income, the number of starred hotels and the number of outstanding scenic spots rated higher than 4A.

The tourism industry is recognized as a non-polluting industry and has great potential to create more employment and increase GDP. China is currently focused on issuing policies and improving facilities to support the development of the industry.

It is also one of the most famous historic and cultural cities in China with a history dating back to 611 B.C. Chengdu is a very livable city because of its mild climate and rich resources. Famed for its hot and spicy cuisine, the city was named a City of Gastronomy by UNESCO in 2010.
