Situated outside the west gate of the old Jinan downtown area, Wulong Pool, or Five Dragon Pool is fed by a group of artesian karst springs. With Baotu Spring in the south and Daming Lake in the north, the water quality of the pool is the best found across all the springs in the city. Five Dragon Pool Park, built in 1985, is mainly composed of a lake, a pool and 27 different springs. The architecture of the park adopted both the park-building essentials of North and South China. The place is said to have once been the residence of well-known Tang Dynasty General Qin Qiong (A.D.?-638).
