Atlantic City is the place where the first legal casino in the U.S.was built, so it is known as a good place to gamble, but people call it a "pale shadow of Las Vegas. "Quite a lot of people love the city, but many also hate it, by saying, "The city as a whole is a dump, and you certainly don't want to wander very far off the boardwalk, especially at night."
