Japanese multinational corporation Sharp was established in 1912. After 100 years, the company has developed into one of the world's leading electronics companies. In 1992, Sharp founded its first factory in China in Pudong, Shanghai. In 2005, Sharp set up its wholly owned sales subsidiary in China, Sharp Electronics Sales (China) Co., Ltd. (SESC).
