Apple Inc.'s iPad has taken the computing world by storm since its world premiere early last year, dragging various PC manufactures into a fierce race for market share in the nascent tablet computing category.

According to U.S.-based market research firm Gartner, worldwide sales of tablets hit 63.6 million units by the end of September this year, an incredible 261.4 percent increase over 2010 sales of 17.6 million.
