PLA Academy of Military Science (中國軍事科學院)

The PLA Academy of Military Science (PLAAMS), established in March 1958, is a center for military studies and the premier military research organization of PLA. It answers directly to the Central Military Commission (CMC), and also directly receives tasks from the General Staff Department. According to its official description, AMS mainly carries out fundamental research on military science and important issues in defense and armed forces development, drafts and modifying military doctrines, regulations and laws, and provides strategic advice and consultation for military policymakers. Currently, the institute has about 500 full-time researchers, and consists of several research departments, including strategic and tactical research, military organization, military history, military encyclopedia, and foreign military.
