Vanke, China's largest residential property developer, was founded in 1984. The company's core business is the development of mass-market residential properties. It's also involved in property management, construction research, and investment and consultancy activities. It's headquartered in Shenzhen, China.

Vanke was one of the first companies in China to go public. It was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 1991, the second company to list after Shenzhen Development Bank. The company was named as one of the "Most Respected Companies in China" for eight consecutive years due to its sound corporate management and high ethics standards.

Presently, Vanke has operations in 46 cities in Pearl River Delta, Yangtze River Delta, Bohai-Rim Region and elsewhere in China. By the end of 2010, Vanke's total assets totaled 215.98 billion yuan. Its operating revenue and net profits for 2010 reached 47.76 billion yuan and 7.28 billion yuan respectively, rising 3.7 percent and 36.7 percent over 2009, according to its 2010 annual report.
