Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez will sign a five-year contract with FC Barcelona, the club's official website reported on Friday.

FC Barcelona and Liverpool have reached an agreement for the transfer of the 27 year-old striker. Suarez will arrive in the Mediterranean city next week to pass the medical examination, sign the contract and be officially presented as a new player of FC Barcelona.

Transfer figures are unknown at the moment but local media reported that the cost will exceed 70 million euros (95 million U.S. dollars).

Suarez has played in several European teams such as Groningen, Ajax and Liverpool and heads to the Camp Nou as holder of the Golden Boot after scoring 31 goals for Liverpool.

"Luis Suarez thus adds his name to the impressive list of world class strikers that have played for the club in recent years, and is the fifth to have arrived with a Golden Boot among his honors," the FC Barcelona said.
