Chancellor Angela Merkel, who will travel to Brazil to cheer on Germany in the World Cup final, backed the national team's chances yesterday, saying a win was "feasible".

Asked by reporters for her tip for Sunday's final against Argentina, Merkel predicted victory for Germany, which qualified after crushing host Brazil 7-1.

Merkel said she thought the German side had the concentration needed to bring home the trophy. "My tip is, it's feasible," she said in Berlin.
