Nick Woltemade's world has shifted dramatically recently. After scoring three goals for Germany's U-21 team against Spain, the lanky 23-year-old striker appears poised for new heights.

While "Woltemade mania" has grown familiar around his club VfB Stuttgart, the rising star has captured hearts nationwide. With the demeanor of everyone's next-door buddy, his popularity surged ahead of Saturday's league match against Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Stuttgart rookie is knocking on the national team's door, and reports indicate German record champion Bayern Munich has made initial contact to explore a transfer for the grounded footballer, who is under contract until 2028.

For the 1.98-meter-tall striker, his journey seems improbable. Reports suggest Stuttgart demands at least 40 million euros to open transfer talks.

Signed as a free agent from Werder Bremen in 2024, Woltemade's meteoric rise took time. Initially a substitute, he watched from the stands as teammates faced Paris Saint-Germain and others.

Now Stuttgart's undisputed No. 1 up front, his breathtaking moves defy expectations given his stature. Far from a traditional box striker, the Bremen-born forward has evolved into a versatile attacker, seamlessly linking midfield and threatening defenses.

His rapid ascent hasn't impacted his humility. Photos of his parents adorn his shin guards, and his father Tim, a lifelong Stuttgart fan, likely beams with pride. The family's rising star takes it all in stride.

Asked about his 2025 summer plans, he replied with a twinkle: "The U-21 Euros from June 11-28 and the Nations League Final Four with the senior team from June 4-8 don't exclude each other."

While a Bayern move as backup to England captain Harry Kane seems unlikely due to Woltemade's contentment in Stuttgart, fans have coined creative nicknames like "Woltemessi," "Tower of Stuttgart," "Goaltemade," and "Big Nick" - all roared whenever he touches the ball.

"I know about my abilities, but I also know where I come from. So let's stay calm and enjoy what we have at present," the fan favorite said.
