FC Barcelona will be without attacking midfielder Dani Olmo for Tuesday's vital Champions League visit to play Benfica.

The club confirmed on Sunday that the 26-year-old has suffered a calf injury that will stop him making the trip to Lisbon.

"Dani Olmo has strained the soleus muscle in his right leg," confirmed Barcelona on social media, adding that the player's return to the team depended on how the injury progresses, which means he is also a doubt for next weekend's La Liga game at home to Valencia.

Olmo came on as a second-half substitute for Gavi in Saturday's 1-1 draw away to Getafe, playing just over half an hour as Barca failed to break down a massed Getafe defense.

Barca travels to Lisbon knowing a win would almost certainly confirm a place in the last 16 of the Champions League, while a loss would leave the team needing to avoid defeat at home to Atalanta in the last group game on January 29.
