China's win over Indonesia in 2015 Asian Cup qualifier has seen them rocket up nine places to 93rd in the latest FIFA world ranking.
China beat Indonesia and held Saudi Arabia in back-to-back Asian Cup qualifiers in November. China remained second but must avoid defeat when they meet Iraq in its final group game to secure its passage.
Portugal have made the biggest impression on the rankings, jumping nine places to fifth, thanks to their World Cup play-off triumph over Sweden.
Reigning world and European champions Spain remain unchallenged in first place, with Germany, Argentina and Colombia also holding steady in second, third and fourth respectively.
Out of all the teams in the top 20, only Ukraine in 18th will not be present at World Cup 2014, with the group stage draw for the competition to be held on December 6.
