China's Ding Junhui came from 12-9 down to beat Stuart Bingham 13-12 and reach the last eight of the World Snooker Championship for the first time.

The Crucible has not been a happy hunting ground for the Chinese ace as he has failed to make it beyond the last 16 in four previous appearances, and he looked set to fall at that hurdle again when he was three down with four to play.

But he showed that he can bring his best game to the biggest stage with a bold fight back, making breaks over 50 in each of the last four frames in a dramatic conclusion. The Masters champion now faces Mark Selby in what could be a classic.

The result was a double blow for Bingham with defeat costing him a place in the top 16 at the outset of next season.
