After a loss of form and enthusiasm, Felton decided to take a break from competitive golf and returned home last April.

"I talked with my fiancée and decided to have a break. I just wasn't enjoying it. I practised for four or five months, then tried playing again in Australia at the end of the year, but it was too early and I stopped again," said Felton, who is getting married in December.

"From February till about three weeks ago, I've been working in a mate's wine shop and hitting balls for several hours a day. It was a good plan that allowed me to practise and rediscover my love for the game.

"Pro golfers are a pretty uptight bunch at the best of times, so it has been a really up and down time for me. This has really taken a huge weight off my shoulders."

Yates, who was also a runner-up in 2007 after a playoff, was exemplary from tee to green during his bogey-free round, but the Hua Hin resident couldn't match his playing partner on the greens.

"I basically hit all 18 greens in regulation, but had 32 putts and was still four-under. I feel like the older I get, the further I'm hitting it, but I just had no feeling with the putter," said Yates, who tied for 11th at last week's Kolon Korea Open following four top-10s on OneAsia.

"Kim putted his lights out and did really well, so I'm really happy for him. He hardly made any mistakes all day. We both had good fun out there."

OneAsia's final events of the year are the Australian Open at The Lakes Golf Club in Sydney from December 2-5 and the Australian PGA Championship at the Hyatt Regency Coolum from December 9-12.
