Japan's Kimiko Date Krumm, the oldest player in the 2010 China Open, breezed past Anabel Medina Garrigues from Spain with a 6-0, 6-4 wipeout here on Saturday.

By breaking three times in a row, the 40-year-old Date Krumm dispatched her 12-year-younger opponent in the opening set with a perfect 6-0.

Medina Garrigues grabbed her first game of the night by holding her own service in the second set, changing the score to 3-1. When failing to get a forehand back and falling behind 15-40 in the 9th game of the second set, Medina Garrigues burst into yelling to herself.

However, the screaming couldn't change the result of the match. Although saved two match points in the 10th game, the Spaniard missed the third one and swallowed the second set defeat by 6-4.

"She of course is a very tough player, using many spin balls," Date Krumm said, referring to the performance of the opponent. "So I just don't put pressure on myself, focusing on the ball and not thinking too much of the match."

In the first round of the Pan Pacific Open slated for Sept. 24 to Oct. 2 in Tokyo, local favorite veteran Date Krumm shocked defending champion Maria Sharapova by 7-5, 3-6, 6-3. And the wild-card entrant went on to oust Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia in the second round to surprise the tennis world.
