World number one Lee Chong Wei from Malaysia is going to lock horns with Indonesian ace Taufik Hidayat in the men's singles quarterfinals at the Badminton World Championships after both taking comfortable victory on Thursday.

The top seed Lee met no threat from England's player Rajiv Ouseph in the last 16 round, wrapping the match up 21-9, 21-9. The former Olymic and world champion Hidayat also advanced into the quarterfinals easily by beating Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk from Thailand 21-8, 21-14.

Lee and Hidayat is going to play for the 15th time since 2001 as Lee takes advantage in the head-to-head record with nine wins.

Three-time world champion Lin Dan took victory in the Chinese derby by defeating his long-time teammate rival Bao Chunlai.

After defeating Bao 21-16 and 21-13, Lin managed to win 19 out of 23 matches with Bao in international competitions since 2001.

Lin needs to win three more matches so as to clinch his fourth consecutive title at the World Championships and his next opponent is South Korea's 13th seed Park Sung Hwan.

Wang Yihan, the top seed in the women's singles, was knocked out by Japanese 10th seed Eriko Hirose.

Wang, 22, managed to take the first set 22-20, but couldn't match with an aggressive Hirose later, losing the following two sets 16-21, 18-21.

Hirose is going to face another Chinese shuttler Wang Lin in the quarterfinals, as the seventh seed managed past Yip Pui Yin from China's Hong Kong 21-13, 21-17.

Pi Hongyan of France came from behind to edge out South Korea's Kim Moon Hi 16-21, 21-15, 21-14, receiving standing ovation from the audience as the former Chinese player became the only remaining host player at this year's World Championships.

Pi needs to go through China's third seed Wang Xin to reach the semifinals.

Besides, Olympic mixed double champions Lee Yong Dae and Lee Hyo Jung from South Korea were ousted from the last 16 round as the seven-seeded pair were unheraldedly defeated by Lee Sheng Mu and Chien Yu Chin from Chinese Taipei 21-17, 22-20.

The top eight seeds of the men's doubles all advanced into quarterfinals.
