Day 7 Preview: Team competitions continue

As the first round of team competitions have been completed in Table Tennis events at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games, attention now turns to the Team quarterfinals and semifinals on Sunday.

Fixtures in all competitions are organized on a knockout basis with wheelchair players in Classes 1-5 and standing players in Classes 6-10.

Men's Team - Class 9/10

Eight teams will compete in the quarterfinals - China versus Sweden, Hungary versus France, Czech Republic versus Ukraine, and Netherlands versus Spain.

In the line-up of the Chinese team will be Ge Yang, the Men's Singles Class 9-10 gold medalist, and Ma Lin, who lost to Ge in the Men's Singles Class 9-10 final.

Women's Team - Class 6-10

There are four quarterfinal matches: Poland versus Czech Republic, Russia versus Sweden, France versus Brazil, and Ukraine versus China.

Poland will be led by Natalia Partyka, the gold medalist in the Women's Singles Class 10 event.

Lei Lina and Liu Meili, the gold and silver medalists in the Women's Singles Class 9, will lead the Chinese team.

The semifinals will be held between the four winners from the quarterfinals in the evening.

Men's Team - Class 4/5

In the quarterfinals it is Norway versus Serbia, Chinese Taipei versus China, Republic of Korea versus Sweden, and Germany versus France.

The Republic of Korea, the gold winners in Class 4 and Silver in Class 5 at Athens 2004, will field Jung Eun-chang, the Men's Singles Class 4-5 silver medalist as its leader.

Christophe Durand of France, the gold medalist in Men's Singles Class 4-5 event, will be in action for France.

Men's Team - Class 6-8

In the quarterfinal exchanges, it is Belgium versus Israel, Spain versus Slovakia, China versus Germany, France versus Poland.

Miroslav Jambor, the Men's Singles Class 8 bronze medalist, is in the Slovakian line-up.

Daniel Arnold, the gold medalist in the Men's Singles Class 6 event, and the bronze medalist in the same class, Rainer Schmidt of Germany, are on the German team.

The semifinals will be held between the four winners from the quarterfinals in the evening.

Men's Team - Class 3

In the semifinals, it is France versus Great Britain, Brazil versus China.

Jean-Philippe Robin of France, the silver medalist in Men's Singles Class 3, is on the French team.

Feng Panfeng of China, the gold medalist in Men's Singles Class 3 and the hero who lead China to victory in Saturday's quarterfinal against Korea, will head the Chinese team.

Women's Team - Class 4/5

The fixtures for the quarterfinals: China versus Sweden, Chinese Taipei versus Jordan, Serbia versus Italy, and Slovenia versus Germany.

Ren Guixiang, the gold medalist in Women's Singles Class 5, the silver medalist in the same class, Gu Gai, and Zhou Ying, the Women's Singles Class 4 gold medalist, are in the line-up for China.

Mateja Pintar, the bronze medalist in Women's Singles Class 3, will play for Slovenia.

Men's Team - Class 1/2

In the semifinals, it is the Republic of Korea versus Slovakia and Austria versus France.

Andreas Vevera of Austria, the Men's Singles Class 1 gold medalist, is on the Austrian team.

Cho Jae-kwan, the silver medalist in Men's Singles Class 1, and Kim Kyung-mook, the bronze medalist in Men's Singles Class 2, will represent the Republic of Korea.

Vincent Boury of France, the gold medalist in Men's Singles Class 2 event, and the silver medalist in the same class Stephane Molliens of France will be in action for France.

Women's Team - Class 1-3

The semifinal matches feature France versus China and Great Britain versus Italy.

Li Qian, the gold medalist in Women's Singles Class 3 and Liu Jing, winner in Singles Class 1-2, will represent China.
