Final day for Individual events

The Individual competitions in the Table Tennis event held at Peking University Gymnasium at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games will come to a conclusion on Thursday.

Men's Individual - Class 1

Cho Jae-kwan of the Republic of Korea, seeded No. 6, will confront Andreas Vevera of Austria, the No. 1 seed, for the gold medal.

Jean-Francois Ducay of France, seeded No. 5, will meet Lee Hae-kon of the Republic of Korea, seeded No. 4, in the bronze medal match.

Men's Individual - Class 3

Feng Panfeng of China, seeded No. 6, will play Athens silver medalist Jean-Philippe Robin of France, seeded No. 5, for the gold medal.

Luiz Algacir Silva of Brazil, seeded No. 14 and the first Brazilian Table Tennis player to reach the penultimate stage in the Paralympics since 1960, will go up against Tomas Pinas of Spain, seeded No. 7, in the bronze medal match.

Women's Individual - Classes 6/7

The gold medal match will be held between Natalia Martyasheva of Russia, seeded No. 3, and her compatriot Yulia Ovsyannikova, seeded No. 2.

The bronze medal will be decided between Kelly Van Zon of the Netherlands, seeded No. 1, and Faiza Mahmoud Afify of Egypt, seeded No. 4.

Women's Individual - Class 8

Thu Kamkasomphou of France, seeded No. 1, will play Josefin Abrahamsson of Sweden, seeded No. 3, for gold.

Claire Mairie of France, seeded No. 6, will fight for bronze against Zhang Xiaoling of China, seeded No. 4. Zhang was the winner of the Women's Individual Classes 6/8 in Athens four years ago

Men's Individual - Class 7

The gold medal match will see Athens silver medalist Jochen Wollmert of Germany, the No. 1 seed, play Ye Chaoqun of China, the No. 2 seed.

As for the bronze medal match, Alvaro Valera of Spain, the No. 3 seed, will confront Mitchell Seidenfeld of the United States of America, the No. 12 seed.

Women's Individual - Class 9

Lei Lina of China, seeded No. 1, will play for the top place against teammate Liu Meili, seeded No. 4, in a repeat of the Athens final in 2004; on that occasion, Liu emerged victorious.

The bronze medal will go to the winner of the battle between Malgorzata Grzelak of Poland, seeded No. 2, and Neslihan Kavas of Turkey, seeded No. 3.

Men's Individual - Classes 4/5

The gold medal will be duked out between Christophe Durand of France, seeded No. 11 and Jung Eun-chang of the Republic of Korea, seeded No. 7; in Athens, Durand won bronze whilst Jung clinched silver.

Tommy Urhaug of Norway, seeded No. 1, opposes unseeded Sameh Saleh of Egypt for bronze.

Men's Individual - Class 6

The gold medal match will be staged between defending champion Daniel Arnold of Germany, the No. 1 seed, and Peter Rosenmeier of Denmark, the No. 2 seed. Rosenmeier took the bronze in the Athens 2004 Paralympic Games.

The bronze medal match will be between Nico Blok of the Netherlands, seeded No. 11, and Athens 2004 silver medalist Rainer Schmidt of Germany, seeded No. 5.

Men's Individual - Class 2

Stephane Molliens of France, seeded No. 6, will play compatriot Vincent Boury, seeded No. 3, for gold.

Lars Hansen of Denmark, seeded No. 4, opposes Athens bronze medalist Kim Kyung-mook of the Republic of Korea, seeded No. 2, for the bronze medal.

Men's Individual - Class 8

Chen Gang of China, seeded No. 13, will play Piotr Grudzien of Poland, seeded No. 9, for gold.

Li Manzhou of China, seeded No. 14, will meet Miroslav Jambor of Slovakia, seeded No. 16, in the bronze medal match.

Men's Individual - Class 9/10

In the gold medal match, Ma Lin of China, seeded No. 3, will play compatriot Ge Yang, seeded No. 5. Ge was the bronze medalist in Class 10 of the Men's Individual in Athens. Ma is a Class 9 player.

In the bronze medal match, Athens 2004 Men's Individual Class 10 silver medalist Fredrik Andersson of Sweden, seeded No. 6, will confront Gerben Last of the Netherlands, seeded No. 15. Like Ma, Last is also a Class 9 player.
