Home crowd favorite Dong Fuli will take on the reigning Dutch champion Esther Vergeer in the Wheelchair Tennis Women's Singles quarterfinal at the Olympic Green Tennis Center on Thursday, September 10.

Women's Singles

? Dong will play World No. 1 Vergeer in the quarterfinal. Dong competed in her first Paralympics in Athens but has had a strong showing at these Games which is encouraged by an enthusiastic home crowd. However, four-time gold medalist Vergeer is on a 346-match winning streak and hasn't been beaten since 2003.

Quad Doubles

? Semifinals will take place, with reigning champions, David Wagner and Nick Taylor of the United States to play the Dutch duo, Bas van Erp and Dorrie Timmermans-van Hall. Wagner and Taylor have only been beaten three times since their 2004 Paralympic success. Van Erp won bronze in Athens in 2004.

? Boaz Kramer and Shraga Weinberg of Israel will play the second seeds, James Burdekin and Peter Norfolk of Great Britain in the semis. Norfolk is pairing up with Burdekin for the first time in the Paralympics, although they won gold together at the French Open earlier this year, as well as silver at the Florida Open.

Men's Singles

? The third round matches will take place with Stephen Welch of the United States, a former champion and Sydney silver medalist to challenge No. 2 seed, Athens gold medalist Robin Ammerlaan of the Netherlands, in what could be an challenging match.

? The top seed Shingo Kuneida of Japan will play No. 13 Jon Rydberg of the United States who won silver at the Parapan American Games in 2007.

? No. 5 seeded Tadeusz Kruszelnicki of Poland, a veteran of the past three Paralympic Games, will play No. 9 seed Satoshi Saida of Japan in what could be a close match.

Men's Doubles

? Second round matches will take place.

Women's Doubles

? Quarterfinals will take place with Jiske Griffioen and Vergeer playing Japan's Yuko Okabe and Mie Yaosa. Griffioen and Vergeer have only been beaten once in 39 tournaments since first pairing up in April 2004.

? Dong and Hu Dandan may perform well, encouraged by home crowd support, as they face up to another strong Dutch entry, Korie Homan and Sharon Walraven.
