China captured all four gold medals in the Women's Wheelchair Classes (Classes 1-5) in the Table Tennis events at the Peking University Gymnasium.

In Women's Individual Classes 1-2, Liu Jing of China, seeded No.3, beat Pamela Pezzutto of Italy, seeded No.6, to clinch gold with the bronze medal going to Clara Podda of Italy, the No.1 seed.

Podda beat Isabelle Lafaye-Marziou of France, the No.2 seed and the Athens 2004 Paralympic gold medalist, in the vital play-off match.

China enjoyed success in Women's Individual Classes 1-2 and also in Women's Individual Class 3, Women's Individual Class 4 and Women's Individual Class 5.

Li Qian of China, seeded No.3, overcame Alena Kanova of Slovakia, seeded No.2 and the bronze medalist four years ago, to clinch gold in Class 3, with the bronze bouncing to the defending champion and top seed, Mateja Pintar of Slovenia. She defeated Michela Brunelli of Italy, seeded No.4, in the crucial contest.

Meanwhile in the gold medal contest in Class 4 it was success for Zhou Ying of China, seeded No.3, over Borislava Peric of Serbia, the No.1 seed. In an all China Class 5 final, Ren Guixiang of China, seeded No.2, retained the crown she won in Athens, by beating her compatriot Gu Gai, seeded No.3, to capture top prize.

Moon Sung-hye of the Republic of Korea, seeded No.5, secured bronze in Class 4 by overcoming Monika Sikora-Weinmann of Germany, the Athens 2004 champion and No.4 seed. While in Class 5, the third spot was secured by Andrea Zimmerer of Germany. Seeded No.1, she overcame Khetam Abuawad of Jordan, seeded No.4, in the final contest.

In the one Women's Standing Class final to be played, China attained the silver standard.

Natalia Partyka of Poland, seeded No.1, who represented Poland at the Olympic Games and in so doing became the first Table Tennis player to compete in both Olympic and Paralympic Games, overcame Fan Lei of China, seeded No.2 in the final of Women's Individual Class 10 and thus retained the title she won at Athens 2004.

That was a defeat for China but in the bronze medal match there was success, Hou Chunxiao seeded No.6, overcame Michala La Bourdonnaye of the Czech Republic, seeded No.4 to add to the host nation's medal tally.
