Syria sees increasingly complicated situations and violent conflicts. Kofi Annan, joint special envoy of the United Nations and the League of Arab States on the Syrian Crisis, warned on June 2 that Syria may possibly descend into full-scale civil war.

Facing the Syrian Crisis, some Western nations, by excuse of the Houla Massacre, expelled Syrian diplomats at first, and then criticized the Syrian government before the truth of Massacre comes out. Meanwhile, they successively announced that they will not exclude the option of military intervention.

It is not difficult to imagine that once full-scale civil war breaks out in Syria and thus triggers the West’s military intervention, such messy situations will appear: high civilian casualties, serious damage to properties, increasingly restive society. These miserable scenes of Libya are just like right before our eyes.

Ultimately, Syria issue should be solved by the Syrian people themselves. Choosing which road of development and electing which person to be the leader are the rights of the Syrian people and the external forces have no right to interfere. Under the current circumstances, Annan’s six-point peace plan remains the realistic scheme for solving Syria problem.

The international community should support Annan’s plan instead of losing confidence and patience. Once the realistic channel for peacefully resolving Syria problem is blocked, the country will likely be pushed into the abyss of full-scale war.
