The set comprises nine coins, including two 1/3-ounce gold coins, one five-ounce coin, one 10-kilogram coin, four one-ounce silver coins and one one-kilogram silver coin. They are all legal tender in the People's Republic of China.

The obverse design of the 10-kilogram gold coin features the emblem of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (in color), China's bronze ware lines, the name of the People's Republic of China and the year 2008. Its reverse design is athlete-themed, and includes a landscape of the Temple of Heaven and the years of all Olympic Games, in addition to its face value. The obverse of the one-kilogram silver coin features the emblem of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (in color) and a pair of Chinese dragons, while its reverse features tug-of-war and Chinese shadow boxing.

The 10-kg gold coin is set to make history for its unique weight. This set of coins is the same as the previous two in terms of design, which is a strong manifestation of Chinese culture and the Beijing Olympic element.

The set of coins witnessed an innovation in traditional minting technology and used advanced technology, featuring decorative gridding. The coins are jointly made by Shenzhen Guobao Mint Co. Ltd. and the mints in Shanghai and Shenyang; they are distinguished by the letters Z, S, Y imprinted on the coins.

The nine coins will be sold through branches of China Gold Coin Incorporation, franchised stores, and specially authorized dealers. Collectors can visit the official website of China Gold Coin Incorporation (http://www.chinagoldcoin.net) for more information.
