This spring fashion is cool, trendy and vibrant with the accent on color. No more high contrast nor the dull and grave colors of last season.
It's time to get rid of that drab hairstyle and get one that really reflects the warm spring weather. Natural, long hair with a big wave continues to reign.
"Say goodbye to the strong smoky eyes, there are some great new colors to check out," said Joanna Zhou, former head stylist for the "Supergirl" show. "Get ready to look beautiful, thanks to spring's new easy-to-wear shades."
The Taiwanese has 28 years of styling experience and has worked on many TV shows, fashion shows, and photo shoots.
"Spring 2008 fashion is all about the sporty, casual look. The new makeup trends I am seeing follow the spring/summer fashion trends: bright colors on the eyes paired with minimal foundation for flawless skin with a soft, dewy appearance; or bold lips with natural eye makeup and brows," she said.
Granted the way a trend is presented on the runway is not the way we everyday girls wear it. Most of us wouldn't wear that much shadow everyday, it does give us some insight into how to interpret the trend for everyday wear.
If you're yearning for the secrets of the new season's look, here are Zhou's two top choices and the new products she would like to share with you.
Acrylic
From laminate-bright lips that do all the talking to eyes popping in tropical shadows, there's an optimistic moment in makeup this season that decrees that too much is never enough when it comes to exploring color.
The retro look gives way to the "Acrylic" look which is all about fun, color and statement.
"Lip makeup is able to create a totally different image for you. Choose a bright lipstick to pop an otherwise paired back face with only black eyeliner and mascara," she said.
The most popular lip color for this look is Fafi Lipstick Eager.
The Acrylic look is all about color. Be prepared to ply your face with different eye shades. Blend silver with light blue, gold with green, or apply one bold eye color over the eyelids.
You can choose different colors everyday to match different clothing and moods. But remember, only wear natural lip gloss to accentuate "colorful" eyes.
