North Korea has agreed to suspend uranium enrichment, as well as nuclear and long-range missile tests, following talks with the US, BBC reported.

The US State Department said Pyongyang had also agreed to allow UN inspectors to monitor its reactor in Yongbyon to verify compliance with the measures. In return, the US is providing 240,000 tons of food aid for the North.

Correspondents say the move could pave the way for the resumption of six-party disarmament negotiations with Pyongyang.

美國(guó)國(guó)務(wù)院表示，平壤方面已經(jīng)同意聯(lián)合國(guó)核查人員對(duì)其寧邊核反應(yīng)堆進(jìn)行檢查和監(jiān)督。而美方則敲定了向朝鮮援助24萬(wàn)噸食品的計(jì)劃。

記者稱，此舉為重啟朝鮮去核化六方會(huì)談奠定了基礎(chǔ)。
