A newly built primary school building in Weinan, Shaanxi Province, has turned into an auto dealership only two weeks after being put to use in May, 2010, forcing students to return to the old campus soon after, Xinhua reported.

The new Zhaocun Sir Shaw Run Run Primary School was partly funded by Shaw Run Run's donation, and was intended to improve student facilities from an old shabby campus, modified from a Buddhist temple.

The village authorities argued renting the premises to auto dealers just to pay off its construction fees, adding that the new school was on a busy traffic intersection, and the return was "for the children's own safety."

The district authorities have demanded the new campus resume its original purposes, but did not provide a deadline.

據新華社報道，陜西渭南開發區一所小學新校園2010年5月落成之后短短兩周，就變身成為汽車4S店，學生不得不返回原來的校舍學習至今。

新趙村逸夫小學部分由邵逸夫捐建，本意是讓學生離開娘娘廟改建的小學，改善他們的條件。

村民監督委員會的說法是，將校舍租給車商是為了還清建筑費用，還說新校園周邊交通復雜，搬回原校園是為了“孩子們自己的安全”。

開發區主管部門已責令恢復校舍的教育用途，但并未給出最后限期。
