Traditional cultural products such as printed books and television are losing appeal to white-collar workers, the Shanghai Evening Post reported on Tuesday, citing a study by the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. |
The study surveyed 1,601 white collars whose monthly income ranged between 2,000 and 20,000 yuan. Half of them never go to libraries or museums, and nearly 70 percent don't go to memorial halls, art galleries and cultural centers. |
"No time" and "Not interested" were the most frequent explanations. The people surveyed also said high prices have prevented them from being more involved in cultural activities.
