Cultural series donated to help Sino-US relations

In order to help strengthen the relationship between the United States and China, China International Publishing Group (CIPG) donated the Culture and Civilization of China book series to the U.S. Embassy in Beijing on July 23.	為進一步促進中美關(guān)系，7月23日，中國國際出版集團（中國外文局）在北京向美國駐華大使館捐贈了《中國文化與文明》大型系列叢書。
U.S. Ambassador Jon Huntsman and CIPG Vice President Huang Youyi attended a ceremony for the donation.	美國駐華大使洪博培、中國外文局副局長黃友義出席了捐贈儀式。
The series program, which started in the 1990s, is jointly published by CIPG and Yale University. The books, printed in different languages, consist of three branches — illustrated studies, Chinese literary classics and Chinese philosophical works.	該叢書項目始于1990年，由中國外文局與耶魯大學(xué)出版社合作出版。叢書分畫冊、中國文學(xué)名著、中國哲學(xué)思想三個系列，用多種文字發(fā)行。
During the ceremony, Ambassador Huntsman carefully held the book Three Thousand Years of Chinese Painting and read it with great interest.	在捐贈儀式上，洪博培大使對手中的《中國繪畫三千年》表現(xiàn)出了極大的興趣。
"Today, I feel very happy to receive these books," he said. "Through them, like the book in my hand or the book Chinese Architecture, you can have an easier understanding of Chinese history. You can feel the beauty of its culture."	“今天很高興能夠收到這套書。”他在接受記者采訪時說，“通過這套書，比方說我手里的這本，又或者那本《中國古代建筑》，你可以更好地了解中國悠久的歷史，領(lǐng)略到中國文化的魅力。”
He praised the work of American and Chinese scholars as a "critically important and difficult task." The books cover different aspects of Chinese history, such as art, silk and pottery.	他還盛贊中美兩國專家此次的攜手合作，稱“完成這項艱巨的任務(wù)，非常的了不起。” 這套叢書涵蓋了中國歷史的方方面面，如藝術(shù)、絲綢和陶藝。
He said these bilingual books are easy for readers to study.	他表示，這套叢書采用英漢對照的方式更加方便讀者閱讀。
"The books lay out many details for people to better understand, and I will put them into the Embassy's library so that more people can share with me," he said.	“叢書內(nèi)容詳實具體，易于廣大中外讀者更好地去理解。我將把它放到使館圖書館里，讓更多的人能夠閱讀和欣賞。”洪博培大使這樣說。
CIPG Vice President Huang Youyi said that the academic value, the mode of cooperation and the achievements of the project have attracted attention among government and academic circles in China and the U.S.	中國外文局副局長黃友義表示，該叢書項目的學(xué)術(shù)價值、合作模式及取得的成果均受到了中美兩國領(lǐng)導(dǎo)和學(xué)術(shù)界的高度重視。
