2009年9月17日，中國(guó)翻譯協(xié)會(huì)在京舉行儀式，授予我國(guó)著名文學(xué)翻譯家、外國(guó)文學(xué)研究專(zhuān)家楊憲益先生“翻譯文化終身成就獎(jiǎng)”。中國(guó)外文局常務(wù)副局長(zhǎng)、中國(guó)翻譯協(xié)會(huì)常務(wù)副會(huì)長(zhǎng)郭曉勇，中國(guó)外文局副局長(zhǎng)、中國(guó)翻譯協(xié)會(huì)副會(huì)長(zhǎng)黃友義為楊憲益先生頒發(fā)了榮譽(yù)證書(shū)，并宣讀了中國(guó)翻譯協(xié)會(huì)《關(guān)于授予楊憲益先生“翻譯文化終身成就獎(jiǎng)”的決定》。

Yang Xianyi, a well-known literary translator and foreign literature expert from China, received a Lifetime Achievement Award in Translation from the Translators Association of China (TAC) on September 17, 2009. Guo Xiaoyong, Executive Vice President of the China International Publishing Group (CIPG) and Executive Vice President of TAC, and Huang Youyi, Vice President of CIPG and Vice President of TAC, presented Yang with an honorary certificate and announced TAC's decision to honor Yang at the ceremony. 

郭曉勇在頒獎(jiǎng)儀式上表示，楊憲益先生是我國(guó)著名的文學(xué)翻譯家、外國(guó)文學(xué)研究專(zhuān)家，在國(guó)內(nèi)外翻譯界和文化界享有較高的影響力和崇高威望。

Guo commented at the ceremony that Yang, whose expertise is recognized worldwide, has earned high prestige in translation and cross-cultural communication.

他學(xué)貫中西，在中國(guó)語(yǔ)言文化和西方語(yǔ)言文化上造詣深厚，為中外文化交流尤其是中國(guó)文化走向世界作出了卓越貢獻(xiàn)。楊憲益先生畢其一生精力，將大量的中國(guó)文學(xué)作品翻譯、介紹到了西方，也將許多優(yōu)秀的西方文學(xué)作品介紹給了中國(guó)讀者。

Yang is familiar with Eastern and Western cultures and has notable achievements in Chinese and Western languages. He has also made outstanding contributions to cross-cultural communication by introducing Chinese culture to the rest of the world. Moreover, he has rendered a great number of Chinese literary works into English and introduced Chinese readers to many Western classics.

他翻譯的中國(guó)文學(xué)作品，譯文準(zhǔn)確、生動(dòng)、典雅，從先秦文學(xué)，一直到中國(guó)現(xiàn)當(dāng)代文學(xué)，跨度之大、數(shù)量之多、質(zhì)量之高、影響之深，中國(guó)翻譯界無(wú)人能企及。特別是楊憲益先生和夫人戴乃迭聯(lián)袂翻譯的英譯本《紅樓夢(mèng)》，成為最受中外學(xué)者和讀者認(rèn)可和推崇的經(jīng)典譯作，為中國(guó)文學(xué)和文化贏得了更加廣泛的國(guó)際影響。

Yang's work, ranging from pre-Qin literature to modern Chinese classics, is noted for accuracy, lifelikeness and refinement. He is second to none among Chinese translators in terms of quantity, quality and influence. One of his representative works – A Dream of Red Mansions, which was co-translated with his wife Gladys Yang, is highly praised by scholars and popular among domestic and international readers. The rendering has earned broader international influence for Chinese literature and culture.

郭曉勇表示，楊憲益先生獲得翻譯文化終身成就獎(jiǎng)是當(dāng)之無(wú)愧的，中國(guó)譯協(xié)把這一獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)授予楊憲益先生，“這是對(duì)他卓越成就、嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)治學(xué)態(tài)度和敬業(yè)精神的高度評(píng)價(jià)和充分認(rèn)可”。（中國(guó)網(wǎng)）

Yang fully deserves the honor of the Lifetime Achievement Award in Translation, said Guo. "It is because of our high valuation and recognition of Mr. Yang's prominent achievements, rigorous scholarship and professional ethics that we pay tribute to him," said Guo.
