Iran on Sunday put 25 more post-election protestors on trial, the official IRNA news agency reported.

Another 25 post-election protestors were put on trial in the 15th branch of the revolutionary court, said the report.

The defendants were common people arrested in the post-election street unrest, there was no well-known reformist politician at the trial.

"A number of opportunist individuals (disturbed) the Iranian nation through destructive acts," said the indictment read by the deputy prosecutor general of Tehran, adding that some of the defendants had used explosives and attacked Basij (voluntary militia) forces.

Last week, Iran held the second hearing session for the trial of the protestors and activists who were arrested after the disputed presidential election. The indictment linked their charges to Western states' roles in the street riots aiming at "soft overthrow" of the Islamic regime.

The first hearing in the mass trial of about 100 arrested protestors on Aug. 1, charged the arrested people with "being connected to the terrorist groups, bombing, carrying weapons, raiding the police, Basij, universities and military bases, sending images to the enemy, organizing vandals and rioters, damaging public and governmental centers."

Protests gripped Tehran and other Iranian cities after the June 12 presidential election, amid claims that the vote had been rigged in favor of incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Iran's state media said about 30 people had been killed in relevant clashes, including some in custody.

According to the judiciary officials, about 4,000 protestors and dozens of reformist activists were arrested in the wake of the disputed election. Some 3,700 were released later but "those who were involved in the riots were detained."
