The foreign ministers of China and Pakistan agreed?in New York on?Friday to unswervingly develop bilateral relations despite changes in Pakistan's political landscape.
Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi told his Pakistani counterpart, Shah Mahmoud Qurishi, that China is convinced that Sino-Pakistan relations will further move forward in a sound and stable fashion under the government of the Pakistan Peoples' Party.
The two ministers were meeting on the sidelines of the 63rd session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Yang said that despite the political changes Pakistan has witnessed, bilateral ties have maintained a momentum of stable development, and that the Chinese side would unswervingly develop its friendly ties with Pakistan and further deepen pragmatic cooperation in various fields.
Qurishi, for his part, said that developing traditional friendly relations with China will be a policy pursued by the new Pakistani government, and that Pakistan sees China as its most trusted friend and is ready to work with China to promote bilateral ties to a higher level.
Yang also met Friday with his Uruguayan counterpart, Gonzalo Fernandez, Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini and Argentine Foreign Minister Jorge Taiana.
