China and Singapore on Thursday reaffirmed their efforts to seek stronger bilateral cooperation.

Li Yuanchao, head of the Organization Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, met with Singapore's Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong in the Great Hall of the People.

While hailing China-Singapore cooperation in foreign affairs, trade and other fields, Li said the Suzhou Industrial Park in eastern Jiangsu Province had become a model for bilateral cooperation in a new era.

"It not only has an advanced industry but also brings new development ideals to China," Li said.

Li said the Tianjin eco-city would be another showcase for China's scientific development.

The eco-city, 40 km from downtown Tianjin and 150 km from Beijing, will be guided by Singapore's use of solar and wind power and rain recycling experience. Singapore will also share with Tianjin its expertise on waste water treatment and desalination.

Goh said Singapore was satisfied with the development of the Suzhou Industrial Park and the Tianjin eco-city.

Along with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, Goh will attend the foundation-laying ceremony of the Tianjin eco-city on Sunday.

The construction of the eco-city started in July and will be completed in 10 to 15 years.

Li also praised bilateral cooperation on the training of personnel, saying such cooperation had deepened understanding between relevant departments and middle and senior officials of both countries.

He said he hoped both sides would further strengthen cooperation on personnel training.

Goh said Singapore would like to seek stronger cooperation with China.

Goh came to China to attend the 2008 Summer Davos forum to be held in north China's Tianjin Municipality.
