China Donates Relief Goods to Bangladesh

The Chinese Defense Ministry donated some relief goods, including 1.2 tons of tablets and 15 machines for water purification to Bangladeshi Defense Ministry to help flood affected areas in the country.

More than half of 64 districts in Bangladesh are affected by flood that has already claimed about 200 lives.

At the handing over ceremony held in Dhaka on Thursday, Chen Bingde, member of Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China and chief of the General Armament Department of the People's Liberation Army, said being informed Banlgadesh is affected by serious flood, the Chinese Defense Ministry prepared some relief goods in a short time. He hoped the goods will do something good for the flood affected people.

Lieutenant General Masud Uddin Choudhury, principal staff officer of Armed Forces Division under President Office, said at the function he thanked the Chinese Defense Ministry for their providing the relief goods to Bangladesh.

Masud said the victims will be grateful to the help of China.

Also on Thursday, Army Chief General Moeen Uddin Ahmed said Bangladesh will consistently support the one-China policy and not allow Taiwan to do anything harmful to this policy in Bangladesh.

While meeting with the delegation led by Chen Bingde, Moeen said China has done a lot of assistance to Bangladesh Army. He felt very grateful to that.

Moeen hoped the military cooperation between the two countries should be strengthened further.

Naval Chief Lieutenant General Sarwar Jahan Nizam and Air Force Chief Lieutenant General Ziaur Rahman also expressed the same attitude and wishes while meeting with the Chinese delegation.

Chen Bingde said during the meetings the Chinese government insisted on the one-China policy, this is unchangeable. He thanked the three chiefs of armed forces for their support for the one-China policy.

Chen said China and Bangladesh have long-time friendship. "No matter what is happening and will happen in the world, the friendship between us will continue," he said.

He hoped the two countries should develop cooperation in all fields, including in military field.

The Chinese military delegation came here Wednesday for a three-day goodwill visit. Bangladesh is the first stop of their three-nation visit which also covers Indonesia and Brunei.
