The ruling Croatian Democratic Union was willing to further develop an all-round cooperative and friendly relationship with China and the Communist Party of China (CPC), said the party's secretary-general Ivan Jarnjak on Wednesday.

 

Jarnjak made the comment as he met a CPC delegation led by Ma Wenpu, deputy head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.

 

During the meeting at the headquarters of the Croatian Democratic Union, Jarnjak said the relations between the two countries have developed smoothly since they established diplomatic ties in 1992, and the bilateral cooperation has been promoted in all fields.

 

Meanwhile, Jarnjak said the Croatian government and his party stuck to the one-China policy, supporting the Chinese stand on the Taiwan issue.

 

Ma, speaking highly of the friendship between the two countries and the two parties, expressed his appreciation for Croatia's support to China on such major issues as Taiwan.

 

The CPC delegation arrived in Zagreb on Tuesday for a three-day visit in its last leg of a three-nation trip to Azerbaijan, Romania and Croatia.

 

The ruling Croatian Democratic Union, which was established in June 1989, is the most powerful party in Croatia. It has been in power for a long time since Croatia's independence in 1991.
