Top legislator Wu Bangguo said in Beijing Thursday that trade
ties between China and Mongolia should center on resources
development and infrastructure while meeting with Mongolian Prime
Minister Miegombyn.
The closer cooperation between China and Mongolia not only
complies with the interests of both peoples, but also benefits
peace and stability in the region and the world at large, said
Wu.
China is ready to work with Mongolia to deepen trade cooperation
concentrating on resources development and infrastructure
construction and bring enterprises into play in trade exchanges,
said Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National
People's Congress (NPC).
According to statistics, China-Mongolia trade in 2005 reached
US$860 million, up by 24 percent over the previous year. Bilateral
trade hit US$1.13 billion in the first nine months, up by 88.8
percent from the same period last year.
Enkhbold, who makes his first visit to China since taking office
as Mongolian prime minister in January, said Mongolia-China
relations have entered a new stage as the two countries established
good-neighborly partnership of mutual trust in 2003 when President
Hu Jintao paid a state visit to Mongolia.
The parliamentary exchanges plays a positive role in advancing
nation-to-nation ties, said Enkhbold.
Enkhbold arrived in Beijing on Wednesday on a six-day official
visit to China. Besides Beijing, he will visit Urumqi, capital of
Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and Xi'an,
capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province.
