Former top judge advises on implementing Scientific Outlook of Development
Adjust font size:

Xiao Yang, former president of the Supreme People's Court of China, said the court should better implement principles of the Scientific Outlook of Development to improve the country's judicial work.

Xiao was visited by his successor Wang Shengjun on Sunday and was asked to advise on the court's work to implement the Scientific Outlook of Development, the guiding principles for the country's economic and social development, the court's official website chinacourt.org reported on Monday.

Wang Shengjun was elected president of the Supreme People's Court on March this year to replace Xiao.

During the visit, Wang briefed on how the court had carried out the campaign among its staffs to study the Scientific Outlook of Development.

Xiao said the campaign should help the court to improve its work in order to solve problems that had caused concerns among the public, according to the report.

The Scientific Outlook on Development represents important guiding principles for China's economic and social development. It was initiated by the Communist Party of China in 2003 and written into the Party's constitution during the 17th National Congress of the Party in 2007.

The principles emphasize on a people-first approach, while requiring comprehensive and sustainable development with emphasis both on speed and quality.
