On planning

I have two suggestions to offer:

1) I would like to propose that a fresh water pipeline be built from the Yangtze and other water-rich parts of the country to Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region to support the development of self-sustaining townships.

2) China should emphasize coastal as well as deep sea research as these areas could greatly enhance future economic development of the country.

On dangers

China is facing two potentially disastrous dangers: corruption and pollution. Corruption is being dealt with, but pollution remains a problem. What concrete steps will China take to tackle this life-threatening issue?

On teaching

Most English-language teaching focuses on grammar, but in the real world, conversation is the best way for students to learn the language. Their inability to speak English places Chinese students who come to the UK to study at a disadvantage.

I feel the system for teaching English in China should focus on conversational skills. I have lived in China for more than five years, and I see the disadvantages.

On promotion

Technology education and English skills have been key factors in integrating the Chinese economy with the global market. However, since China is also a key market now, how does the government plan to promote Chinese culture abroad?

Schools need to adopt new teaching methods to encourage students to learn practical and employable skills, instead of memorizing outdated material.
