Jiangsu launches bird-loving campaign
Adjust font size:

Jiangsu province launched its 26th bird-loving week in Baoying Wetland Park on Sunday, Yangtse Evening Post reported.

An official from the local forestry department presents a birdhouse to two students at the opening ceremony of the 26th bird-loving week campaign in Baoying Wetland Park in east China's Jiangsu Province on Saturday, April 20, 2008.

The move has the aim of helping the younger generation raise their awareness of bird protection.

China has nine of the world's fifteen crane species, out of which five live in Jiangsu province. At present, there are more than 400 bird species in the province, accounting for one third the number in the country.
