Typhoon Koppu moves away from HK, storm signal downgraded
Adjust font size:

The Hong Kong Observatory issued a No. 3 strong wind signal on Tuesday morning to replace the No. 8 storm signal issued Monday.

The No. 3 strong wind signal is typically issued when winds with mean speeds of 41 to 62 kilometers per hour are expected, and the No. 8 storm signal is usually issued when wind with mean speeds of 63 kilometers per hour or above are expected.

The observatory also issued a rainstorm warning signal. There had been strong winds and heavy rain but no reports of serious injury or damage, authorities said.

Transport, including ferry and bus services gradually resumed normal operation after the strong wind signal was downgraded to No. 3 in the morning. Trading on the Hong Kong stock market and the gold exchange was also expected to resume in the afternoon.

Classes of some of the schools will resume in the afternoon and evening, while those of the kindergartens and schools for children with disabilities will remain suspended on Tuesday, education authorities said.
