Nation comes three-minute standstill for victims
Adjust font size:

Tourists mourn while visiting Ti'anmen Square in Beijing, capital of China, May 19, 2008. Millions of people in China and overseas observed three minutes silence at 2:28 p.m. Monday to mourn thousands of people killed in an earthquake which hit southwest China's Sichuan province a week ago. Across the country, air raid sirens, cars, trains and ship horns wailed in grief as the people fell silent.

People mourn those who died in a massive earthquake in Sichuan last week in front of Potala Palace in Lhasa of Tibet Autonomous Region May 19, 2008. A nation-wide ceremony was held on 14:28 on Monday, seven days after a massive earthquake hit Sichuan.
